It is with great sorrow that we report the passing of a wonderful supporter of PSCTP and a Team  Tanzania member, Jim Avedikian.  Jim was a remarkable human being, full of vitality, dedication, and originality.  He was a long-time pharmacist at Huntington Hospital and later the founder and director of Phoenix Pharmacy, a respected organization that served much of the Pasadena and San Gabriel community.  Jim was a fierce defender of the underserved and an early and outspoken advocate of services for persons with HIV.  He was an ardent philanthropist and supported many important nonprofit organizations including AIDS Service Center, the Phil Simon Clinic and The Phil Simon Clinic Tanzania Project.  In 2006, he traveled with Team Tanzania to East Africa, helping at the Upone Clinic, on home visits and managing the pharmaceutical supplies that we brought to Africa. His humor, generosity, compassion and energy were much admired by our Tanzanian colleagues and of course, by all of us who respected and loved him.  He will be greatly missed, but his legacy lives on in ALL the lives that he impacted and improved.  Fika Salama, rafiki.
