Words from our founder
“Twenty-two years ago, during our first trip to Tanzania, we met our first HIV patient while making home visits. She was a lovely and courageous woman whose only caregiver and support was her daughter. She passed away a few months after our visit, unable to receive the lifesaving medications that are now available to many people around the world.
Her last words to me were, ‘tell the people in America, thank you.’
We dedicate this day to all those people who perished and who may continue to die from HIV/AIDS. Their courage and grit laid the groundwork for the development of incredible medications that have transformed the HIV pandemic for people and populations. As we can begin to see the day for HIV cure, we applaud and encourage ongoing support for national and international organizations that provide life-sustaining antiretrovirals that help individuals and populations control and one day eradicate this disease.”
